Newt Gingrich Talks Trump And 2016
This is a culture in which amusing people gain ground, says former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of the 2016 election.
"The core of the Trump base is very simple," said Gingrich: "We need someone to kick over the table."
Gingrich and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, both Dentons DC public policy and regulation senior advisers, discussed policy and political changes emerging from the race to the White House at an event hosted by Dentons.
Journalist Carol Marin moderated the two former politicians' discussion of "Policy Implications of the 2016 Presidential Election."
Gingrich dodged questions on whether he'd be a VP pick for Trump, writes the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. He said, "You should never turn down an opportunity until it shows up."
Here, Dean and Gingrich are flanked by Dentons colleagues: Dentons co-CEO Jeff Haidet and public policy and regulation co-chair Eric Tanenblatt.
This presidential race is one that's "unlikely to be duplicated in our lifetime," said Dean.
