A Sneak Peek At New Jersey's Newest Grocery Chain
German discount grocer Lidl is planning stores in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cumberland and Gloucester counties as it enters its first phase of U.S. expansion. Now we have an idea what they will look like when they open, thanks to NJ.com.
Lidl opened its first U.S. stores last month and plans to open 100 stores along the East Coast by next summer. The first 20 stores will open in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Three stores have already been approved in Cumberland County, while construction on its Vineland location began in January.
The chain is best known as a competitor to Aldi, another German discount grocer, which has opened more than 1,600 stores across the U.S. in the past four decades. Lidl is also targeting Texas and Ohio for future expansion.
