What You Didn’t Know About 3 GE Women Execs
Bisnow sat down with three powerful women execs from GE Capital at MBA’s recent CRE Finance/Multifamily Expo. Here are some tidbits:
Debbie Riley, SMD
Hails from: Florida/Ohio
Current home: Chicago/NYC
Favorite Band/Song: Michael Jackson, lots to choose from. Maybe Thriller.
Crazy thing nobody knows: Got rescued by a helicopter. Realized land was in quicksand a little too late. Was 4 months pregnant and nobody knew.
Prospects for the market: This should be a good market for sellers so it should be a great year for acquisitions. Great market for borrowers to capitalize on floating or long-term financing at low rates.
Got into real estate: Father was a real estate developer and mother managed the apartment complexes.
Eileen Brumback, General Counsel
Hails from: Born in NJ, lived in West Virginia, then Fairfield County, CT.
Current home base: Connecticut
Favorite Band/Song: Anything by REM.
Crazy thing nobody knows: Has three boys and they go on crazy adventures. Went to the Bobbie Burns mountain in B.C., climbed up rock faces with extreme drops. Did a six-hour climb up and down, burst into tears afterward.
Nancy Abbott, Global Human Resources Leader
Hails from: Upstate NY.
Current home base: Connecticut
Favorite Band/Song: Sting - Brand New Day
Crazy thing nobody knows: Was recently rescued by Coast Guard in the Long Island Sound. Was sailing a boat and hit a reef. Was getting dark!
Got into real estate: Dad worked for GE. First job was as a technical editor for global research center. Put real estate as an area of interest on a company evaluation form.
