A FEW STEPS FROM HOME
November 9, 2011
There’s nothing like an office next to the train. Just down the block from Grand Central, Pfizer has vacated 400k SF at 205 East 42nd St, where we snapped The Durst Org leasing team and execs: John Grotto, Brandl Frey, prez Jody Durst, Helena Durst, chairmanDouglas Durst, Tom Bow, and Eric Engelhardt (not pictured:Karen Kuznick). Brandl tells us floors 2 through 4, 7 through 12, 15 through 18, and 20 through 21 are available. Also, a 7,000 SF retail space can combine with the base floors to create a building within a building opp. Durst hopes for full- or multi-floor leases for the office space and is marketing it for $45/SF for the base and up to $50/SF in the tower. Bonus: Cook + Fox (which designed The Durst Org’s One Bryant Park) is designing the building's new bathrooms. |
Cushman & Wakefield vice chairman Tara Stacom (right, with Cassidy Turley’s Jeffrey Ram and Jody) is marketing One World Trade Center on behalf of Durst and the Port Authority and has seen an uptick in One WTC site tours since the 9/11 anniversary. She says three of her strongest selling points are Durst's leadership role as the Port Authority's equity partner, the momentum following the 1M SF Condé Nast deal, and the broader market’s realization that Lower Manhattan has become a 24/7, live-work-play locale. |
We also bumped into WASA/Studio A’s Stephen Fishkin, CBRE’sIvan Hillman, and Newmark Knight Frank’s Lee Kosmac. There’s a fun Bisnow connection here: Ivan’s distantly related to our COO Ryan Begelman and event planner Arlene Begelman, sharing Aunt Betty. |
