A TASTE OF THE UWS

A TASTE OF THE UWS
Saturday night (yes, Bisnow sometimes works weekends), we dropped by the second annual New Taste of the Upper West Side culinary fundraising gala, which benefits the Columbus Avenue BID . Here, we have the BID's executive director Barbara Adler and UWS property owner Paul Brusco and wife Michelle. Besides tasting dishes from more than 30 restaurants and over two dozen Long Island vineyards, we learned that the district (which covers W. 67th to 82nd) is 98% occupied. When the BID was formed in '99, the shopping corridor was 50% vacant, but initiatives like Neighborhood Streetscape Beautification Program and landlords and merchants working together changed the face of the neighborhood.

Curious about that ad top right? We spoke to Newmark Knight Frank's Neal Golden (standing), who along with colleagues Lee Brodsky and Ross Perlman, made possible Marcum & Kliegman's 10-year, 67k-SF lease at SL Green's 750 Third Ave, one of the largest '09 relocations. The firm wanted to stay in the Grand Central submarket because of transportation, he tells us; 750 Third provided the options it needed for short and long-term growth and almost doubled its size. "They were thrilled with the ultimate decision because of its location, large floor plates, and efficient work environment," Neal says. For more on SL Green, check here.
