BISNOW'S HOSPITALITY SCHMOOZERS
August 2, 2011
Over 325 gathered last week for Bisnow’s New York Hospitality Investment Summit at The Roosevelt—and what’s a hospitality event without some coffee and schmoozing? Here, we snapped Central Moving’s Noel Luria, Morand Realty’s Larry Adler, Willis’Jamie Sharpe, Frandima Properties’ Marti O’Hare, and Margolin, Winer & Evans’ Kevin McQuade. Larry is seeking major hotel brands to flag properties he plans to develop in the Bronx near Yankee Stadium, Fordham University, and Bruckner Boulevard. They’re all subway sites, he says, and hotels in the area are consistently overbooked. Noel’s a relocation expert and helps small- to mid-sized companies with archiving and material storage. |
Gruppo Italia’s Eleonora Paulsen with Hunter Roberts’ Jeff Crompton and Robert Masucci. Both firms are in the biz of luxury hotels—Hunter Roberts on the construction side, and Gruppo Italia on the furnishings side. Eleonora tells us her firm is a consortium of Italian manufacturers that provide furniture for hotel rooms, and right now, the trend is bespoke (i.e., custom-made). Hotels are ordering everything from traditional to a bit offbeat, like 8’x8’ beds (good luck finding sheets). |
Roux Associates’ Joshua Levine and Heather Dolland look fresh as daisies, despite running the three-and-a-half mile Marcum Workplace Challenge race at Jones Beach the night before. Joshua then beat Heather to the event, even though he came in from Long Island and she from Murray Hill. To be fair, Heather limped her way in—it was her first race ever. This was Joshua’s 10th year! |
Carlton Group’s Robert Mathes (right, with ClickPlay’s Lauren Lee and Friedman’s Jeffrey Mestel) tells us his firm—which specializes in equity and debt placement, commercial loan restructuring, and commercial/residential loans sales—is raising money for brand new hotel chains and stabilized hotels. |
Johnson Capital’s Bruce Ostroff, DiGuiseppe Architecture’s Anthony DiGuiseppe, and Hotel Dynamics’ Allen Ostroff. |
