Blau's Not Blue
Perkins+Will's Debra Cole, Related Co.'s Jeff Blau, Rhodes Associates' Jane Lyons, Newmark Knight Frank's Robin Fisher
Did you know that when Related Co prez Jeff Blau was an undergrad at Michigan, he was building student housing and hit up Related CEO Steve Ross for a $10k loan? Jeff, here with Perkins+Will’s Debra Cole, Rhodes Associates’ Jane Lyons, and Newmark Knight Frank’s Robin Fisher, told the 135 attendees during last week’s AREW luncheon that Steve offered him a summer job instead, and for the past 20 years, he’s overseen developments worth $20B for Related. After discussing the development of the Time Warner Center, he noted that he “hopes for movement in the next few years” for Moynihan Station, and projects that Hudson Yards and the West Side will be the next growth sector in the upcoming real estate cycle. As for 3 Columbus Circle, Jeff was mum (in keeping with the popular autumn flower, we suppose).
Sun & Moon Marketing’s Madelyne Kirch, Horizon Land Services’ Stephanie Butler, KTR Real Estate Advisors' Theresa Nygard, HTR’s Mary Williamson, and Berdon’s Rita Pierre
Among the attendees were two recipients of AREW Charitable Fund scholarships, Columbia Business School’s Lauren Jezieicki (third from left) and NYU’s Leanne Toma (fifth from left), with its board members: Sun & Moon Marketing’s Madelyne Kirch, Horizon Land Services’ Stephanie Butler, KTR Real Estate Advisors' Theresa Nygard, HTR’s Mary Williamson, and Berdon’s Rita Pierre. Since 1989, the Charitable Fund has awarded over $170k in scholarships to students enrolled in institutions of higher learning in the real estate field and related disciplines.
