CHICK-FIL-A TO OPEN A DOZEN NYC LOCATIONS
Ok, so we're just pullin' your leg (or thigh or wing) for April Fools'. But a retail broker recently told us that one of the most persistent(and borderline annoying) questions he receives each day is when the addictive poultry purveyor is coming to NY. We're not sure, but we're holding out hope after the long-absent Denny's just opened in Centereach, Long Island. Now if Sonic would just stop teasing us with its commercials.

Perhaps the restaurants will change their minds once they hear that US retail is showing signs of improvement (this isn't part of the April foolin'), according to CBRE Econometric Advisors. During 4Q09, availability rates at neighborhood and community centers recorded the smallest quarterly increase since YE07, and availability should peak at 12.8% in 3Q of this year. CBRE-EA economist Abigail Marks notes that retail is showing signs of stabilization; and a slowing of negative absorption and a halt in new construction should build the foundation for positive activity by year's end and into '11. We'll raise a chicken sandwich and sweet tea to that.
