COLORFUL VISION
April 20, 2011
If your space was gonna to be tripled, you’d be throwing confetti, too. Yesterday, City Council speaker Christine Quinn, City Council member Jimmy Van Bramer, Community Board 2 chair Jo Hamilton, and Hudson Square BID prez Ellen Baer joinedChildren’s Museum of the Arts exec director David Kaplan, CMA board members, and students to break ground on CMA’s new 10k SFfacility at 103 Charlton St. The new digs were designed by Work AC’s Dan Wood and Amale Andraos and feature a 2,000 SF gallery, new media lab, a clay bar, and video-making and animation equipment. CMA reaches more than 50,000 people through its program—30% of them are served for free, including 7,000 public school students. CMA has so far raised $5.2M of the $6.4M needed for the expansion. |
