Although we’re not seeing as many large-format retailers expand, boutiques and flagships are popping up around Manhattan as brands decide to go out on their own instead of selling in larger stores, Karen says, with names like Michael Kors, Alexis Bittar, andJ.Crew concepts taking space. In general, New York retail has recovered quickly, and we’re seeing vacant space in submarkets like SoHo, the Flatiron District, West Broadway, and Fifth Avenue fill in quickly, she says. Hear more about the deals Karen’s completing, as she joins Thor Equities CEO Joseph Sitt, CBRE EVP David LaPierre, DLC Management Corp CEO Adam Ifshin, Kimco prez of Mid-Atlantic and Northeast shopping center regions Tom Simmons, Madison Capital founder Richard Wagman, FTI Schonbraun McCann Group senior managing director Jahn Brodwin, and Cole Schotz real estate chair Richard Abramson to discuss the latest in this hot sector.
