GANG GREEN
Matthew Adams Properties’ Kendra Stensven, Curtis + Ginsberg Architects’ Mark Ginsberg, and Zubatkin Owner Representation’s Sarah Haga
Green pushed away the gray skies for the 200 attendees who joined us last Friday for Bisnow’s annual New York Sustainability Summit at the New York City Bar Association. Among them, we snapped Matthew Adams Properties’ Kendra Stensven, Curtis + Ginsberg Architects’ Mark Ginsberg, and Zubatkin Owner Representation’s Sarah Haga. Sarah recently left AECOM to join Zubatkin, where she’s an SVP. Her firm reps owners who are building multifamily and public and private civic projects, such as museums, theaters, and schools. It was founded by engineers, and sustainability has really caught their attention, she says. (Clearly the Jets love going Green. Go Jets!)
SAS Global’s Greg Shiffner and Darren Levine (with SL Green’s Bill Muzzio)
When there’s something gross in your neighborhood, who ya gonna call? The “microbe busters” of SAS Global’s Greg Shiffner and Darren Levine (with SL Green’s Bill Muzzio), who tell us their firm provides anti-microbal solutions, eradicating all that makes us goewww, including bacteria, mold, and fungi. Clients include Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and the New York Yankees (Texiera needs a clean facility to belt homers), among other medical centers, professional and collegiate sports training facilities, and US military buildings. Greg says SAS is now launching globally.
Building Maintenance Services’ Michael Doherty and Naser Gjeloshi with Hinge’s Sylvia Montgomery
Building Maintenance Services’ Michael Doherty and Naser Gjeloshi with Hinge’s Sylvia Montgomery. Sylvia and her daughter came up to New York from DC for the week, and planned on hitting Century 21 after the event (the mysterious man lurking behind her is also from DC—bonus points if you can identify him). BMS is a subsidiary of Vornado, and Michael and Naser said they were at the event to “cheer loudly, throw chairs, and bring on some whooping” for panelist Suki Paciorek, Vornado’s VP of corporate sustainability. We told you Bisnow events were exciting... now we have proof.
Gruzen Samton Architects’ Susan Drew and Legrand’s Maureen Warnicke and Interior Design Solutions' Susan Aiello
Interior Design Solutions’ Susan Aiello (right, with Gruzen Samton Architects’ Susan Drew and Legrand’s Maureen Warnicke) is heading to DC in September, where she will be the first interior designer to help judge the US Department of Energy’s Solar Decathalon. The contest challenges 20 collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy efficient, and attractive, and all the houses are built right on the National Mall. Maureen says there’s been a couple of positive months in the construction industry, and it’s really beginning to feel an upswing.

Global Set’s Chere Burdette with Hess’ Jessica Hood and Debbie Hirschorn. Chere, who works in international development, is assisting CBRE with its Bank of America portfolio strategy, while Jessica and Debbie help in energy management for both commercial and residential real estate.
Event sponsor ConEdison Solutions’ Mike Forese and Ian Diamond
Sponsor ConEdison Solutions’ Mike Forese and Ian Diamond. The firm is one of the country's largest energy service companies, providing renewable green power to more than 23,000 business and residential customers in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. In 2010, its “Green Power” program cut fossil fuel consumption by an amount equivalent to 380,000 barrels of oil. (Ancient dinosaurs send their thanks.) Expanding its portfolio of sustainability services, the Westchester-based company recently began rolling out a solar power offering targeting commercial, government, and municipal customers. Under the initiative, ConEdison Solutions designs, builds, and installs photovoltaic solar systems customized for individual facilities without requiring upfront capital investment from customers.
ConEdison Solutions' Mike Forese, Old Republic Site Management's Jan Fisher, and Olanna Taskey
Everyone loves green, but the lure of an iPad 2 is just as strong. Mike and Bisnow helper extraordinaire Olanna Taskey present the raffle prize (courtesy of ConEdison Solutions) to Old Republic Site Management’s Jan Fisher, who joined us from Houston. Jealous that you missed the event? No worries—we just announced yet another two in New York. Join us on July 20 for our World Trade Center and Future of Downtown event (info), featuring Silverstein Properties’ Larry Silverstein, CBRE’s Mary Ann Tighe, Cushman & Wakefield’s Tara Stacom, and the Alliance for Downtown New York’s Liz Berger.
