GO BIG OR GO HOME
October 11, 2012
Brace yourself for more accounting firm mergers like this week's marriage between J.H. Cohn and Reznick Group. Private equity is where it's at, and to be an accountant for the big guns, you gotta be big yourself. CohnReznick NY managing partner Steve Mayer says no notable accounting firm mergers have occurred in the past 12 months, but they're likely to accelerate now to achieve the geographic and practice group diversity to align with PE firms and their portfolios. Steve tells us his firm, J.H. Cohn, brings in New York and New Jersey, plus manufacturing and distribution, not-for-profit, and hospitality experience, while Reznick has the Mid-Atlantic down and offers a LIHTC, affordable housing, and energy background. Though J.H. Cohn was HQ'd in Roseland, NJ, and Reznick in Bethesda, Md., CohnReznick's HQ will be in NYC, at J.H. Cohn's 1212 Ave of the Americas. |
