GREEN SHORTS
July 11, 2011
ATCO Properties & Management is about to start green roof construction on 381 Park Ave South, which will reduce stormwater runoff by nearly 117,000 gallons per year, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and heat island effects. This was made possible by a Department of Environmental Protection grant.***NYU Law’s Wilf Hall is being considered for LEED Platinum by the USGBC, says architect and designer Morris Adjmi Architects. More than 50% of the building’s footprint is covered by a green roof, and terraces on the second and fifth floor feature walking paths. The building’s energy cost savings is 44% above baseline industry standard, and 70% of its energy is offset by renewable sources purchased through RECs. |
