In a sold-out event at Club 101, AREW honored CBRE Tri-State CEO Mary Ann Tighe for becoming the first woman chair in REBNY’s 113-year history and the first brokerage professional to hold the position in 30 years. AREW’s founder and first prez Merle Gross-Ginsburg, left, provided an eloquent introduction for Mary Ann who acknowledged that Merle (and broker Carol Nelson) provided two compelling reasons to accept her first job in real estate at Edward S. Gordon Company. AREW prez Rebecca M. Mason, right, presented Mary Ann with her award and a surprise donation to Joan’s Legacy: Uniting Against Lung Cancer. Mary Ann's speech brought an AREW first: a standing ovation.

CBRE EVP Susan Kurland with past AREW presidents Zetlin & De Chiara’s Carol Patterson and Avon’s Louise Matthews, and AREW VP Debra Cole (Perkins + Will). Louise just facilitated Avon’s 250k SF lease at 777 Third Ave (second biggest lease of ’09). Carol tells us she's just back from business meetings in San Francisco. And Debra has been spending time in her firm’s new Philadelphia office.
