HOSPITALITY! FASHION! RETAIL!
April 2, 2009
We haven't quite mastered cloning, so we were limited to three events yesterday: B'nai B'rith's monthly luncheon; Faith Hope Consolo and Joe Aquino's broker party; and ICSC's roundtable discussions. There are plenty more photos, so remember to drop by our Facebook page for more! |
First stop, B'nai B'rith Real Estate Unit's monthly luncheon at the Cornell Club, where heavy-hitting hospitality panelists Morgans Hotel Group's Richard Szymanski, Expedia.com's Shaun Stewart, Cushman & Wakefield Sonnenblick Goldman's Mark Gordon, and Proskauer Rose's Jeff Horwitz packed the house. Their take? It's a demand-driven and global recession—different from the post-9/11 downturn—but expect a strong comeback. |
We did glean some positive points: unlike other sectors, owners are holding on to assets with LIBOR-based loans; lenders are receptive to NY hotel owners with cash flow; and, there isn't much new supply. For us travelers? Cheaper, quality hotels with more perks. The panelists, with B'nai board members: BDO Seidman's Stuart Eisenberg, Alchemy Properties' Joel Breitkopf; Mc Gowan Builders'Arie Ben-Dor, Grubb & Ellis' Robert Shapiro; Zlokower Co.'s Harry Zlokower, Sklar Realty Group's Lydia Sklar, Hofheimer Gartlir & Gross' Gerald Morganstern, and Chelsea Capital's Daniel Shahrabani. |
