IREM'S ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM
IREM'S ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM
Also yesterday, we stopped by the IREM Greater New York chapter's second annual Asset and Property Management Symposium, held at the New York Helmsley. The day included seminars for property managers and related services, including focuses on sustainability and risk mitigation. Here, national IREM president Pamela Monroe recites the oath to the industry's newest CPM, Related Management's Michael Herrington, who was installed during the event's luncheon.

Beau Dietl & Associates' John Cutter (second from right, with Sunrise Management & Consulting's Jesse Holland, chapter president Jim Hayden of Cushman & Wakefield, Pamela, and Leebar Management's Edward Andron) keynoted the luncheon. The 25-year-vet of the NYPD warned attendees that sometimes perceived threats are not reality, and you have to take that into mind when vendors try to sell you security services—is Al Qaeda your biggest worry, or just a local singleton? Understanding your true security requirements is needed before buying expensive services.
IREM'S ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM
We haven't seen this many past presidents in one place since Obama's inauguration: Standing: Aegon USA Realty Advisors'Frank Minchella, First Sterling Corp.'s Terry Ann Havel, LeFrak Org.'s James Heller, Martino Real Estate's Michael Martino, Jim Hayden, R.Y. Management's Terea Tota, TIAA-CREF's Nicholas Stolatis, and NAI Long Island's Frank Socci, Jr. (seated) Jesse Holland, Pam Monroe, and New York Life Investment Management's Gail Duke. Pamela tells us that nationally, IREM will be focusing on concerns such as sustainability, troubled assets, risk management, competition, workforce development, and technology.
