JUKE BOX HEROES
July 6, 2011
Rock on, real estate. A few weeks ago, top names picked up their six-strings for the Real Estate Rockers in Relief concert at the Canal Room to raise awareness and funds for the Jewish Disaster Response Corps. JDRC founder Elie Lowenfeld (second from left) hangs with the performers between sets: Newmark Knight Frank’s Jimmy Kuhn (of Square Feeet with NKF’s Billy Mendelson), Worldwide’s David Lowenfeld (of Midlife—and also Elie's dad), and Herrick’s Carl Schwartz (of Normal By Day). There were also special appearances by Normandy Real Estate Partners’ David Welsh, Macquarie’s Randy Reiff, Latus Partners’ Howard Glatzer, Procida Advisors’ Billy Procida, and Herrick’s Dennis Russo. (We're sorry to report a distressing lack of good CMBS-themed songs.) JDRC is housed at The Bronfman Center at NYU, and mobilizes students from all over the country to volunteer their vacations to help communities across the US recover from natural disasters. Speaking of rock, Bisnow Real Estate NY reporter Amanda Marsh met Santana keyboardist/singer and Journey founder Gregg Rolie last night, when he played Santana songs to a packed John J. Burns Park in Massapequa, Long Island. (He sang the lead vocals on “Black Magic Woman,” not Carlos.) What excitement do you have planned this summer? Send your concert, vacation, safari, gardening, BBQing, sandcastle building, swimming, bungie jumping, sock hopping, and other fun snapshots (with captions, of course) toamanda@bisnow.com for inclusion in our summer issues. (But please keep any Borat-worthy swimsuits to yourself.) |
