LAST NIGHT’S ULI BASH
December 5, 2008
Last night may have been cold and rainy, but the weather didn’t dampen the annual Urban Land Institute holiday party. Members from the New York, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester/Fairfield district councils convened at the Yale Club on Vanderbilt Avenue to be merry after what they say was an “interesting” year. |
Speaking of being merry, here’s ULI New York chair Merrie Frankel of Moody’s Investor Services flanked by Westchester/Fairfield programming committee vice chair Andy Sternlieb and Northern New Jersey past chair Greg Senkevitch, both of AGN. |
Langan Engineering’s DJ Hodson and the Durst Organization’s Helena Rose Durst and Alexander Durst. Helena tells us that her company is excited about its Pier 57 redevelopment proposal (in a JV with C&K Properties), which it’s submitted to the Hudson River Park Trust. |
Columbia University’s Philip Pitruzzello with Perkins + Will’s Greg Williams and Debra Cole, whose firmwas recently awarded a large project to design a portfolio of colleges in Northern Ireland for the country’s combined police, fire and corrections academies. Philip’s working on expanding his own university at home. |
Cushman & Wakefield Sonnenblick Goldman’s Steve Kohn and Kathryn Schledwitz. Kathryn’s quite the holiday traveler; she was in Dublin and Brussels with her family over Thanksgiving, and is headed off to Brazil for New Year’s. Sit tight for more on CWSG prez Steve—we have an upcoming interview. |
Broadway Partners’ Anthony Chang, who chairs ULI-NY’s Young Leaders Group; Archstone’s Lee Bloch; ULI-NY exec director John Parkinson; Anglo Irish Bank’s Garrett Thelander; Columbia University’s Tiffany Lau; and Savills’ Meredith Oppenheim. Tiffany’s been busy leading YLG’s UrbanPlan initiative, which teaches high school students the roles, issues, trade-offs and economics involved in urban development. |
Liberty Title Agency’s Danielle Sprouls; the Clarett Group’s Ronne Hackett; Art Asset’s Bobbi Koz Paley; Katten Muchin Rosenman’s Sheri Chromow; and Eastpointe Consultants’ Carmen Bowser. Bobbi’s company owns an eight-building residential/retail portfolio along Atlantic Avenue in Flatbush, Brooklyn and was celebrating the signing of three new leases. |
Katten Muchin Rosenman’s Adam Sanders, Christine Murphy and Julie Velasquez, who tell us they’re keeping quite busy with workouts, modifications and leasing. Here’s hoping they put origination loans on their list for Santa. |
Robert A.M. Stern Architects’ Kevin Fitzgerald; FTI Consulting’s Sean Donohue; Integra Realty Resources’ Jeffrey Rogers; and Renaissance Real Estate’s Tom Bronner. Jeffrey tells us that his firm is actually doing many deals in this market, but they’re top secret. Tom was a bit less mysterious, noting that his firm is looking at distressed asset opportunities. |
ULI member Glen Vetromile, Jones Lang LaSalle’s Paul Mas, and Patterson Belknap’s Andy Herz. Winter must be on its way—we’re hearing less about the green and more about the white. Andy is one of many who will be hitting the slopes this holiday season. |
Percival Advisors’ Wendy Rowan, ULI member Joan Matera and Merrie Frankel take some time to reconnect. See the silver lining in a slower economy? |
