LESS AMENITIES, CHEAPER SPACE
May 5, 2005
We recently sat down with real estate vet Lydia Sklar of Sklar Realty Group, whose firm focuses on office and retail leasing below 86th Street. The big question: where's the bottom? (Don't say Battery Park.) Lydia says we're still waiting, but look for it by '10, with the rebound soon after. For now, she tells us that clients are more price sensitive than ever, taking less amenities if it means lower rent. |
They're also looking at space in order to go back to landlords and discuss where deals can be made. But Lydia's optimistic that the drop in rents will help some of the vacancy issues we've seen. In the meantime, she's busy as a board member of B'nai B'rith's Real Estate Unite and a member of NYCREW and the Financial Women's Association. She also loves traveling and theater; recent visits:Brussels, San Francisco, and Greece, and she's particularly looking forward to seeing Irena's Vow, which recently opened on Broadway. |
