MALKIN ADDRESSES AREW
Although W&M's Tony Malkin didn't have to walk far—his office is around the corner—he braved yesterday's cold to share secrets of survival with equally fearless AREW members at lunch at 101 Park. He acknowledges there will be market casualties, but offers these survival tips: learn to accept absolutes; develop a winning game; have a good, yet realistic, attitude; know what you do and do what you know; know people who can do business with you; don't be mislead by the market; and have fun.

With these daffodils and smiles, you wouldn't know there was over a foot of snow dumped around the Tri-State area: Related's Ana Bertuna; AREW member Carey LeRoux; Moynihan Station Venture's Jennifer McCool, AREW prez; Benchmark Title's Susan Lampert; and Ted Moudis Associates' Lucy Carter. But there were no snowball fights on Monday for these dedicated ladies—everyone worked through the storm.

CUH2A's Mary Williamson, Liberty Title's Stephanie Butler, Westcoast Group's Louise Guido, Wall Street Journal's Lauren Swan, First American Title's Michelle Donaldson, and Perkins+Will's Debra Cole. Mary's company is working on science and tech projects for corporations, higher education, and government, some of the best-performing sectors in today's economy. It was also recently bought out by HDR, making it the largest joint science/tech and healthcare company.

Paul Hastings' Jill Leonardis, GKV's Benita Welch, Perspective New York's Bob Greenberg, and JFK&M Consulting Group's Pat Hildebrandt. Jill just joined Paul Hastings, doing biz dev. She jumped in at the right time, with restructurings and distressed assets keeping her on her toes. She's also getting ready for her September nuptials—we hope a honeymoon in St. Thomas and St. John gives her some time for relaxation.

We found these brave men in the sea of women: First American Title's Phillip Salomon, Clifford Chance's Howard Peskoe, and WB Wood's Jeffrey Lipitz. Phillip's also involved in workouts and restructurings that cover the expanse of property sectors, while Jeffrey's working many new commercial interior projects. Both are good at keeping secrets, because they wouldn't divulge specifics (drat those confidentiality clauses).
