September 21, 2009
Thursday night, Bisnow dropped by Tavern on the Green for the Mortgage Bankers Association of NY's 18th annual (and sold out) dinner, featuring NY Community Bancorp' chairman Joseph Ficalora. We couldn't stay for the entire event, but the cocktail hour (and a half) was filled with smiles despite the cheerless market. |
Looks like we'll have to hit the back-to-school sales for some more notebooks and pens because Latham & Watkins' Joshua Stein, here with Cassin & Cassin’s (and MBAofNY prez) Michael Hurley, tells us he will be participating in a MBAofNY educational program about commercial real estate financing, what it will look like when it comes back, and how structures will be impacted by recent legislation. (Info). |
Imperial Capital Bank's Robert Yiu (event chair) with NY Community Bank's Aldo Matulich, Merritt Engineering's Chuck Merritt, Inter Capital Resources’ Kim Murray, and Creative Funding Group's Bruce Haber. Lucky Robert spent part of his summer in Asia, visiting Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Macau, while Bruce spent part of his looking to uncover solutions for the impasse in the lack of construction financing. We'll make sure he tells us when he does (no pressure there, Bruce). |
Leitner Group's Joel Leitner, right, with Meridian Capital's Ronnie Levine, tells us that in this challenging market, professional appraisers must be relied upon. This Thursday, he'll be joining his fellow appraisers at the Metropolitan NY Chapter of the Appraisal Institute’s eighth annual conference, where top execs will be giving their thoughts on the market.
