MaryAnne & Mary Ann
We snapped Forest City Ratner CEO MaryAnne Gilmartin, City Council member Mark Weprin (Eastern Queens), and CBRE's Mary Ann Tighe at the NY Building Congress' 92nd Anniversary Leadership Award Luncheon. The event's chair, MaryAnne presented Mary Ann with one of the afternoon's pair of awards, calling her a "seismic mover and shaker" who's completed 84M SF of transactions and has had a hand in 11M SF under construction now. Mary Ann paid tribute to the developers among us, noting that she spins the dream while they create it.
We also snapped the day's other big winner, New York-Presbyterian Hospital CEO Steven Corwin with Helbling & Associates president Tom Helbling. Steven is overseeing a capital plan that is producing $2.8B of new and renovated buildings. The MTA also garnered recognition for its rapid Sandy response. Tom, a headhunter who has helped Steven out quite a few times, is based in Wexford, Penn., about a mile from Bisnow NY reporter Amanda Metcalf's alma mater, North Allegheny Senior High School.
On our way out, we spotted Cerami & Associates' Victoria Cerami and Forest City Ratner's Robert Sanna and Melissa Burch, who are heading up the modular madness over at Atlantic Yards. Melissa, who was just promoted to EVP and director of residential and commercial development when MaryAnne left to become CEO, tells us the site has reached "big hole in the ground" status (a good thing only when talking about CRE and pools) and the first modular unit likely will alight in early September.
