Memories of Ronen
September 23, 2010
Never has the phrase âonly the good die youngâ been more appropriate, Linneman Associates principal Dr. Peter Linneman tells us about Angelo, Gordon & Co. VP Ronen Katz (center, with colleague Danny Rudin and Newmark Knight Frank's Ross Kaplan), who died in an accident involving his motorcycle on Sunday (New York Post). Ronen was a rare individual who possessed all of the requisite tools for a lifetime of success in business, but more importantly, he possessed the goodwill and generosity of spirit for a lifetime of success as a person, Peter continues. âHe had a greater impact for good in his 27 years than most achieve in 80 years.â After graduating from UPenn, Israel-native Ronen interned at Merrill Lynch before joining Angelo, Gordon in '05, NYT reports. |
Above, Ronen joined Metropolitan Realty Associates president Joseph Farkas (with scissors) and Town of Islip officials for last year's grand opening of Sunrise Business Center's 300 building in Great River, Long Island. (Angelo, Gordon is an equity partner with MRA in all its LI properties.) Joseph tells us that Ronen had a way of even making the most challenging situations work out right—a real gift. Fried Frank partner Jonathan Mechanic, who represented Angelo, Gordon in a variety of deals, credits it to Ronen's attention to detail—as well as his personality. âHe was the most warm and engaging person; it was easy for all sides of the table to work with him,â he said. âYou had to love Ronen, there was no other way.â |
