Admirals Row property at the Brooklyn Navy Yard
The Army has finally agreed to transfer the Admirals Row property at the Brooklyn Navy Yard to the City, which will turn it over to the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp for redevelopment, Sen.Chuck Schumer, Borough prez Marty Markowitz, and other officials announced Friday. This will pave the way for the area’s first major supermarket, new industrial space, and the rehab of 11 neglected, historically significant buildings. Here’s GreenbergFarrow’s rendering of what the project will look like at Flushing Avenue and Navy Street. (Which, according to this, will be the only areas of the city allowed to have any color. The director of the movie Pleasantville must be the next mayor.) BNYDC has issued an RFP (due March 9) for the 74k SF supermarket, 79k SF of additional retail, and 127k SF of industrial space.
