The real estate industry crowded The Roosevelt Hotel’s Grand Ballroom on Friday for the first-ever NYC Real Estate Expo, which had over 80 exhibitors.

We snapped this photo of Expo founder Anthony Kazazis of ARS Abstract (second from right) with Redbridge Development Partners’William Beal, Mortgage World Bankers’ Steve Lagoudis, and Flagship PDG’s Brian Evans. William reports that his firm is now focusing on distressed investment, and notes Texas is a hot spot (that’s why Bisnow’s now there too). Also on tap: municipal bond financing, non-profit development, and senior and affordable housing—they’re busier than a cat in a tuna factory, he says.

The event also included over 25 educational seminars, like this one by Massey Knakal chair Bob Knakal, who focused on economic conditions and the investment market. He discussed the unprecedented shift from the private sector to government, which has changed long-standing policy to ad hoc decisions, and how it’s affected the market. Other speakers included REBNY’s Steven Spinola, PENSCO Trust Co.’s Tom Anderson, ConEdison Solutions’Jorge Lopez, Sperry Van Ness Butler Kane’s Marilyn Kane, andWall Street Journal’s Emily Friedlander.

If you want to pad your wallet, call New York Life’s Anastasia Pappas, who’s working on saving her clients $3M in state taxes, or Unlimited Realty Services’ Glenn Greenidge, who’s helping his save $50k using cost segregation studies. But if you’re looking to spend money, give Prou Industries’ Mitchell Proux a ring—he’s selling distressed and other non-performing loans, with most of the activity coming from mid and downtown Brooklyn.
