NYCEDC MEETS NYCREW
March 20, 2009
Wednesday night, we joined NYCREW at UBS’s Avenue of the Americas HQ to hear NYC Economic Development Commission prez Seth Pinsky update members on the city’s development initiatives and projects. He tells us that its approach in this economy is threefold: It’s evaluating the government to make sure it works better and get rid of excess; creating new job opportunities; and investing in public works. He’s confident that NYC will emerge stronger than it was. |
Seth with NYCREW board members: past president Anna Hertzman; Cole Schotz’s Wendy Berger; Fidelity National Title’s Isabelle Pullis; Trinity Real Estate’s Sharon Khurdan; HSBC’s Kate Stentebjerg-Olesen; Ferzan, Robbins & Associates’ Liz Muskat, president; and Justdan Realty’s Karen Dome. Some of NYCEDC’s largest projects are moving forward, despite the economy. Seth says it hopes to start site design for Willets Point, Queens, within the next few days, then chose a first-phase developer in a few months. It should also be acquiring land from the Port Authority and Empire State Development Corp. for its Hunters Point South, Queens, project within three weeks. |
Bath Junkie’s Trish Rubin, Sperry Van Ness/Butler Kane’s Marilyn Kane, consultant Deena Baikowitz, and Ferzan, Robbins & Associates’ Mary Viola. What enterprising women: Trish tells us that Bath Junkie was just named to New York Magazine’s “Best of New York,” while Deena has created a business to help professionals learn how to network effectively, especially in these pink-slip days. |
