PAINTING THE (MID)TOWN
September 15, 2011
Creative Arts Workshop for Kids—a non-profit that uses visual, performing, and multimedia arts to teach life skills to Northern Manhattan kids and teens—unveiled its first Midtown public art project Tuesday night at 1285 Avenue of the Americas. Above, 1285 art consultant Colin Thomson, JLL's Carolina Lopez, CAW exec director Brian Ricklin, JP Morgan Investment Management's Dianna Russo, AXA Equitable's Tim Welch, and Boston Properties'Andy Levin stand in front of the colorful 37' mural in the building's concourse. The CAW-designed and installed mural employed over a dozen youth artists and celebrates both the city's youth and 50th anniversary of the SOM-designed building (consider it a giant birthday card). |
