PARTY ANIMALS!
October 5, 2011
Summer may be over, but the celebrations haven't stopped. Partners from Stroock & Stroock & Lavan's NY and Miami offices recently hosted a cocktail reception for 400 execs at the Mandarin Oriental, including UBS Securities' Chad Eisenberger, Stroock's Bill Campbell, and Mesa West Capital's Raphael Fishbach. Mesa West just provided a $65.3M loan to Savanna for the acquisition and capital improvement of the 36-story, 417k SF 80 Broad St Downtown. |
GHC Development's Allan Fried, World-Wide Group's David Lowenfeld, Stroock's Ross Moskowitz, and Ramius' Michael Boxer. Ross tells us Stroock's real estate group continues to see anincrease in activity as owners and institutional clients compete for product and projects. There's a renewed interest in the public-private market as the Cuomo administration ramps up its economic development efforts and the Bloomberg team nears the halfway point of its final term. Though the summer was busy, Ross was able get away before Labor Day for a yoga and meditation retreat, where he learned tai chi. |
Stroock's Leonard Boxer, The Related Cos' Stephen Ross, Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group's Kelly Mack, The Related Cos'Bruce Beal, and Corcoran Group's Pamela Liebman. |
Across town, hundreds of brokers filled the top floor of 499 Park, where Hines and Cushman & Wakefield hosted a party in the available 18k SF duplex (27th/28th floors), the first time the space has been available since the building was developed in 1980. Above, the leasing team: C&W's David Green, David Rosenbloom, Hines'Alexis Michael, and C&W's Mikael Nahmias (not pictured: C&W'sTara Stacom). They say the space in I.M. Pei's âBlack Diamondâ building is perfect for boutique, finance-minded tenants like hedge funds, private equity firms, and trading operations. (There's also8,700 SF available on the 20th floor.) Hines recently renovated the top floor and exposed the ceiling, finding vision glass behind the metal panels and insulation—now there's a ceiling height of 17'. (You should check out the Central Park views.) |
Cushman & Wakefield's James Marcellino, Andy Peretz, andArthur Mirante. Arthur just returned from bunch of conferences, including in Europe and Santa Fe. The takeaway: âNew York is thehottest market in the world, so we should all be excited,â he tells us. Downtown, in particular, âhas been on fire since the first quarter,â adds Andy (who was part of the leasing team that repped Trinity forGetty's 83k SF lease at One Hudson Square). That should be music to James' ears: he's new to the biz during a tumultuous time. But based on that smile, we haven't scared him away. |
CBRE's Glenn Isaacson and C&W's Barry Zeller. Glenn says anyone who can match a tie to a shirt like Barry should be quoted; so Barry tells us he just went down to University of Maryland with his son to watch the Terps beat on the Temple Owls. (Unfortunately, the Terps lost 38-7, but the Owls saw a school record with five rushing touchdowns.) |
