| Yesterday, members of the Battery Park City Authority voted on a lease agreement that will allow the creation of new venues at Pier A, built in 1886 as an outpost for the New York Harbor Police and the Department of Docks, between Battery Park City and Battery Park. The plans call for a casual dining restaurant, oyster bar, coffee shop, and visitor center on the first floor, totaling 39k SF; a fine dining restaurant and event venue on the second floor; and a smaller event and entertainment venue on the partial third floor. There will also be public seating on the plaza and promenade adjacent to the pier. In ’08, the City allocated $30M in capital funding to BPCA to renovate and restore Pier A, which will feature 30k SF of public plaza spaceand a 12,500 SF public promenade. |
