Also last week, the Appraisal Institute enjoyed an on-site luncheon and program at the InterContinental Hotel in Times Square, where Tishman Hotel & Realty's David Rothenberg (center, with Regional Appraisal Associates' Kenneth Wong, Brown Harris Stevens' Sharon Locatell, KTR Real Estate Advisors' Theresa Nygard, and Albert Valuation Group's Daniel Sciannameo) discussed the 607-room property's planning, assemblage, zoning, and Gensler architectural design. Here's a tidbit: the hotel's beautiful garden showcased behind glass in the lobby was thanks to NYC zoning, which required a separation between the hotel and its W. 43rd St. neighbors. The garden's a design theme throughout the hotel, woven through carpeting, curtains, and wall art. When the hotel officially opened in July, it had a “vine-cutting” ceremony; it's also a stands out as the first large, luxury hotel to open in Times Square since '02.
