ROBIN FISHER; LAST NIGHT AT 5030 B'WAY
This spring weather inspired us to trek out and find some young talent, so we stopped by Newmark Knight Frank's Park Avenue office recently to meet associate director Robin Fisher, who recently won REBNY's "Most Promising Commercial Salesperson of the Year Award," recognizing a member with less than five years experience who's already made a significant contribution to a firm.

The Cornell grad (sitting where the magic happens, she jokes) double majored in Spanish and American Studies, yet decided to go into finance to support post-grad living in Manhattan. She had difficulty finding a job, but the financial industry's loss was real estate's gain: she quickly landed a research internship; then, in '04, she was hired by Newmark's brokerage division.

Robin, with CEO Barry Gosin, now specializes in tenant rep, advising clients like Sesame Workshop and TheaterMania.com, and working with several of the firms' senior executives, including Barry, Moshe Sukenik, and Neal Golden. The three-fold secret to her success? Diversification, treating her clients' objectives as her own, and understanding industry-specific best practices, she tells us. And we'll add: Having a client (Sesame Street) who not only won't complain if you lease them a garbage can for a home, but actually demands it.

Bisnow was on hand for her recent award. We're shocked she found time to pose: Robin serves on the boards of the YM/WREA, AREW, the Enterprise Foundation's Gotham Society, the Financial Women's Association, and the Greater New York Area's Red Cross. She even manages to fit in a live music and theater interest, plus some travel—the first-time aunt is visiting new twin nieces in San Francisco this week, then heading off to a wedding in San Diego.
