Real Estate Doing Good!
June 30, 2010
Threats of thunderstorms didn't deter over 230 people from attending last week's 2nd Annual Design, Construction and Real Estate Reception to benefit SHARE (Self Help for Women with Breast or Ovarian Cancer) at Haworth's Park Avenue showroom. SHARE exec director Alice Yaker has it right: This industry loves to party. The event raised over $125k, 90% of which will bring SHARE's Pink & Teal Seminar Program into the corporate workplace, providing info, resources, direction, and support to women with breast or ovarian cancer. Pictured above are the volunteer chairs, leadership, and event committees with the evening's honorees, Havas Worldwide's Nancy Wynne and BlackRock's Shelly Bloch (bottom row, center and second from right). |
At its 15th Annual Scholarship Luncheon, Skanska USA awarded Bonnie Tran, a student at Midwood High School, $5k through the Greater New York's ACE Mentor Program. The not-for-profit organization introduces high schoolers to career opportunities in design/construction through mentoring by industry professionals. And Mc Gowan Builders recently held its 8th annual Charitable Golf Classic at the Emerson Golf Club in Emerson, NJ, raising $100k for The Loretta Mc Gowan Foundation, which funds programs that support individuals and families living with Down Syndrome. The Early Show anchor Dave Price served as MC for the luncheon after, which was attended by 150 real estate, architecture, and construction professionals. The funds raised will help establish the The Loretta Mc Gowan Scholarship Fund and benefit the Sisters of La Sagesse Services Cregg House in Sligo, Ireland. |
