Retail Blast-Off!
April 15, 2010
The market optimism continued into the evening, when we joined The Retail Network at its spring networking at the Cradle of Aviation in Garden City, Long Island. Over 300 retail-related professionals attended, many who have been out of the scene recently. Founder Jayson Siano of CB (center, with Real Estate Arts' Michael Goodgold, The Fagen Group's Stu Fagen, Kimco Realty's Joshua Weinkranz, and Bohler Engineering's Joe Deal) likened the excitement to kids returning to summer camp. (That backdrop suggests space camp is more apt.) |
CREATE Architecture Planning & Design's Frankie Campione, Lowe's Wade Laufenberg, and Breslin Realty founder Wilbur Breslin. Many were reluctant to talk about transactions in the works, but we hope they're as significant as the T.J. Maxx deal that was announced in Manhattan yesterday—the retailer inked a 10-year,27.6k-SF lease on three floors at W&H Properties' 250 W. 57th St., extending the 57th Street corridor to Eighth Avenue. But in other big-box news, Wade tells us that construction is continuing on its new Rosedale store, which should open by the end of the year, and the home improvement giant is seeking additional sites on Long Island. |
Rosenbaum Design Group's Jay Tuller, Stack Realty's Sharon Rubin, Rosenbaum's Fred Habenicht, and the Feil Org.'s Robert Fisher. Although Rosenbaum Design Group is working on some supermarket projects right now, Jay and Fred tell us that 820 Concourse Village West, a 60k-SF office project they're involved with in the Bronx, is under construction for a June '11 completion and 85% leased. Now that baseball season has started, perhaps they can sneak away for a few Bronx Bomber games at neighboring Yankee Stadium during site visits. |
