SAVE THAT STOP
Wednesday night, REBNY pushed Community Board 4 on the relatively quiet disappearance of the 41st St. and Tenth Ave subway stop from the MTA’s plans for the 7 line extension, a move that will impact thousands (including new jobs hinging on the construction), says prez Steven Spinola. The board voted unanimously for officials to find funding mechanisms to allow construction of the station.

REBNY worries that without the proposed station shell, opportunities will pass, so it's engaged City Hall and Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to seek additional money before decisions get made, Steven says. Fourteen brokers who live and work in West Midtown gave testimony, and REBNY already has 2,500 signatures on its petition at BuildTheStation.com, with hopes for a few thousand more. How much of an impact could this have? Steven notes REBNY’s recent action against the terror trials in NYC, including speaking directly to the White House and Mayor Bloomberg, must have hit a nerve; it's likely the trials won't be held in Manhattan.
