SEASON OF GIVING
The season of giving is upon us—and in real estate, that means annual bestowals. We were at Tavern on the Green Thursday night for the Institute of Real Estate Management Greater NY Chapter’s awards dinner and installation.

American Pipe & Tank’s Richard Silver with Sentinel Real Estate Corp.’s Jason Acosta
Sentinel Real Estate Corp’s Jason Acosta, right, won Accredited Residential Manager of the Year and tells us he’s working toward his Certified Property Manager accreditation, but the avid traveler will be taking a break in January to visit Costa Rica. American Pipe & Tank’s Richard Silver toasts to that.

RY Management Co.’s Antoinette Maglione and Robert Vaccarello, whose firm won Accredited Management Organization of the Year, and Durnan Group’s Matthew Durnan. Everyone’s about saving money these days, and Matthew’s teaching clients how to do so through workers’ comp programs and safer workplaces.

Incoming chapter president Jeffrey Klarfield of Penmark Realty Corp with wife Margalit and colleague Leslie Winkler. He tells us that some of the immediate initiatives for the chapter include increasing membership, attracting more of the younger set, and focusing on the LEED program. He succeeds Jim Hayden, who will join the chapter’s executive council.
Terry Havel of First Sterling Corp, joined here by IREM regional VP Jesse Holland
Terry Havel of First Sterling Corp (which we keep wanting to refer to as Sterling Cooper; Mad Men, anyone?) is the chapter’s ’10 VP of membership, joined here by IREM regional VP Jesse Holland. He’s been quite a party animal of late, traveling to install officers for NJ, Penn, and Delaware, as well. Rounding out NY's incoming officers: RY Management Co.’s Diana Bosnjak (first VP), TIAA-CREF’s Nicholas Stolatis (treasurer), Building Management Co.’s Edward Andron (secretary), Dawning Real Estate’s Dawn Carpenter (VP education), and Jacqueline Aleman (VP chapter activities).
Tavern on the Green
Not only was it a special night for the winners, but according to a prominent sign at the door labeled “Final Curtain,” the iconic restaurant is set to close its doors December 31. Our understanding is a little different: that the Parks Department in August awarded a new 20-year operating license to Boathouse restaurateur Dean Poll, after 35 years with Warner LeRoy family, and that Poll plans a $25 million renovation and name change to Tavern on the Park.
