April 27, 2011
Monday evening, we joined Mann Publications prez Jeff Mann, his family, and 350 attendees at Cipriani 42nd Street for the sixth annual “Mann of the Year” awards to benefit Mount Sinai Hospitaland The Mann Foundation, which was founded in memory of Jeff’s parents Marion and Irving Mann. Marion died of Alzheimer’s disease in ’01, and the foundation was created to help support research for geriatric disease and ultimately find a cure for Alzheimer’s (it’s estimated that by 2030, 17 million Americans will have the disease). Among the honorees in the fashion, financial, and real estate industries was Cushman & Wakefield chairman of global brokerage Bruce Mosler, whom we snapped with Town Real Estate chairman Andrew Heiberger and C&W executive director David Rosenbloom. |
First, it's a big black cushion, not a bed. Now, you probably see the next honoree in attendance at many real estate events as Bisnow: The Bachrach Group prez Richard Bachrach (fourth from right), whose executive recruiting firm services the real estate, accounting, finance, IT, administrative, life sciences, legal, creative, and HR industries. With him are Scott Bachrach, Brianna Bullerdick,Heather Frank, Michelle Tomsia, Alex Roth, Karin Michonski, Allan Ageman, Matt Last, and Phyllis Marchione. Richard tells us that the employment market is on the rise, and thatcompanies are hiring and candidates are receiving multiple offers. The firm recently launched a San Francisco office, which is up and running with Chris Papa at the helm. In short: “Life is good,” he says. |
There to cheer on the real estate honorees (which also included Touro College real estate division Esther Muller) were MKDA’sJeffrey Kleinberg and Matt Kleinberg, Newmark Knight Frank Retail’s Amy Zhen, Cushman & Wakefield’s Arthur Mirante, Massey Knakal’s Bob Knakal, and Newmark Knight Frank Retail’s Jeffrey Roseman. Jeffrey reports that the retail market is as vibrant and robust as its been in recent memory, with neighborhoods likeColumbus Circle, the Upper East Side, and Times Square seeing tremendous activity, as is the entire city in general. Things are looking up for Bob, as well; he tells us that activity in the development market has been gaining significant traction. The firm’s marketing two sites in excess of 250k buildable SF and the bidding’s been very competitive. Click here to see the rest of the night’s winners ordonate to this very worthy cause. |
