THE KING'S SPEECH
April 11, 2011
We didn't necessarily "see" the Oscar winner for best picture, but based on the title, we assume it's about using cool tools like voice recognition for anti-terrorism training. If we're close, then the lead role should go A-T Solutions CEO Dennis Kelly, as his company does such training. And now its standing up a new intel division out of two recent acquisitions. |
We snapped Dennis at his Fredericksburg office. Nearly three years ago, we met with CoVant Management CEO Joe Kampf (he who soldAnteon to GD for $2.2 billion) and he talked glowingly about his first investment: A-T Solutions. Now the Tysons-based company has 600employees and has seen 25-30% organic growth each year. Dennis says the company does it by providing state of the art training forDoD, DHS, the three-letter agencies, and state and local law enforcement on anti-terrorism and anti-IED. In fact, Dennis tells us A-T Solutions employs more bomb technicians than anyone outside of government. One of its latest moves is a mobile classroom that allows trainees a look at the latest threats posed by terrorists. |
Dennis came to the company two years ago as COO and became CEO last year when company founder Ken Falke decided to return to school. Dennis was president of TechTeam Government Solutions, but the chance to work again for Joe (Dennis was head of BD and later corporate communications at Anteon), plus the patriot mission of A-TS (Dennis lost a cousin, a firefighter, in the World Trade Center) convinced him of the move. Outside of work, Dennis says he loves totravel with him family. |
