THE OPTIMIZERS; 1450 B'WAY FOR $204M
June 2, 2011
Energy efficiency and carbon neutrality are the catchphrases in the construction industry, especially with the City of New York’s PlaNYC 2030 effort, says WSP Flack+Kurtz’s David Choy, who'll be moderating Bisnow’s New York Sustainability Summit at the NY Bar Association on June 17. |
Building owners are paying attention to building systems, and all of the projects WSPF+K is working on are minimizing the use of energy for MEP systems, David says. For instance, it’s seen success in harnessing the natural environment and the building’s own energy to affect ventilation, cooling, and heating. Every project WSPF+K is involved with includes sustainable design, particularly in NYC, where buildings will need to have 14% energy savings over baseline (the Javits Center renovations will result in 15% energy savings). Want to hear how others are approaching sustainability? Join David, CodeGreen Solutions’ Christopher Cayten, Vornado’s Suki Paciorek, Jonathan Rose Cos’ Nathan Taft, CBRE’s David Pogue, Malkin Properties’ Tom Durels, Con Ed’s David Pospisil, TLR Energy’s Michael Thaler, and Israel Berger & Associates/ Viridian Energy & Environmental’s John Hannum to hear the latest trends.
