WHAT A VIEW
March 3, 2011
It wasn’t only the all-star panelists who dazzled the 425 attendees ofyesterday's Bisnow The Evolution of Times Square and the West Side event at Eleven Times Square. How about that view from the 34th floor? Proskauer, we’re jealous. |
Manhattan borough president Scott Stringer wants you to keep your eyes toward the right, so ignore the body of water and the land to the left and instead focus on Worldwide Plaza and Hearst Tower, two of the buildings that make up a changing Eighth Avenue. (Sorry, New Jersey—we still love you.) An attendee raised the question of whether the new office space would snap up tenants from older buildings, but CBRE global chairman of global brokerage Steve Siegel—who reps both Silverstein Properties at the World Trade Center and SJP Properties’ Eleven Times Square (joking he hasn’t had a day off in four years)—says to expect retrofits of older buildings; growth will take care of the space. |
The Real Deal’s Ross Fox, Halstead’s David Bess, Loan Resolution Advisors' Jack Rosenfeld, First American Title's Jeffrey Mitzner, and attorney Amy Farber. Every deal is still much harder, but they’re getting done, says Jack, who’s currently selling a retail property on Long Island. So why does Jeffrey look so relaxed? Perhaps from the weeklong trip to Disney World over winter break with the kids (he recommends the Expedition Everest roller coaster in the Animal Kingdom). That’s exactly where David wants to head after he closes some off-market investment sales deals south of 96th Street. |
WASA’s Stephen Fishkin and Harry Spring flank CBRE’s Brad Gerla and Silverstein Properties’ Jeremy Moss. WASA designed a 60k SF residential and outpatient treatment facility for Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, which recently broke ground, and will soon commence work on the building renovation of Odyssey House. Things are literally looking up at the World Trade Center site, report Brad and Jeremy—construction of Four WTC, which they rep, has risen to 18 floors. Leasing interest is very strong, Brad says, with all types of tenants, especially media, sniffing around for space. |
Vornado’s Meredith Fales, Cushman & Wakefield’s Michael Stone, and Robert K. Futterman & Associates’ Gary Alterman. Michael reps SJP Properties at Waterfront Corporate Center in Hoboken, and recently (Scott Stringer, cover your ears) closed a deal with Post Road Entertainment at the project, completing the lease-out of the retail component. He also recently completed a lease at 30 Rock on behalf of Tishman Speyer for a retail concept called Rain Africa, its first location in the US. The busy bee is also representing the LeFrak Organization on all its retail space in Queens. |
The Berman Group’s James Melnichok, Anchin, Block & Anchin’sMark Schneider, Reznick Group’s Darren Lis, and First American Title’s Michael Fluss. We’re not sure how Mark snuck out of his accounting firm for this—but we’re glad he got to relax, if even for a moment. Darren, up from Baltimore, says Reznick (a great Bisnowsponsor, we might add) is quite active in tax credits and market-rate development right now. One project it helped receive historical tax credits is the conversion of 184 Kent Ave in Brooklyn. |
