WHAT RECESSION?
March 19, 2010
The construction industry may be down, but ACC Construction, which turns 26 this month, finds no shortage of its bread-and-butter corporate interior projects. We met with CEO Michele Medaglia, who tells us her firm recently completed a 30k-SF build-out for Toyota at 601 Lex and is working on corridors, pre-builts, and lobby renovations, for owners like for SL Green, W&H Properties, and Trinity Real Estate. More owners are taking the downtime to start building upgrades, where the volume of work is, she says. |
The Toyota space was built in conjunction with TSC Design Associates, Jones Lang LaSalle, and PROPEL Real Estate Resources. ACC’s workload also includes many big-box retail and bank projects, including a T.J.Maxx at 808 Columbus Ave that opened late last year, an upcoming Marshalls in Manhasset, Long Island, and an Old Navy at East River Plaza, Michele says. The AREW founding member is also very active on the charitable side. In December, the Diabetes Research Institute awarded her the Camillo Ricordi Humanitarian Award at its annual Empire Ball for her support of Type 1 Diabetes research. |
