YESTERDAY WITH NYC NETWORK GROUP
April 17, 2009
We were on hand yesterday morn for newly founded NYC Network Group's first networking and seminar event. A better-than-expected crowd packed The Williams Club's second floor for schmoozing and mercifully short (like us!), five-minute presentations. |
In the Peter Brady center square: MW Commercial Capital's George Eliopoulos; then clockwise, Plaza Construction's Jennifer Murphy, Countrywide Home Loans' Brendan Banahan, Mortgage World Bankers' Jimmy Vattes, and construction attorney Jennifer Redmond. Jennifer R. tells us that there's more funding for public projects versus private. George and Brendan note that lenders are flush with money, but there's a disconnect, and people need to understand the market before it moves again. Jimmy updated us on CCIM NY's growth, and how it's helping NYU revamp its RE courses. |
Signature Bank's George Maroulis and Peter Douros with NYC Network Group founder Anthony Kazazis of ARS Abstract. Anthony tells us that similar events will be held monthly, except for July, August, November, and December, and the group is planning the first NYC Real Estate Expo at the Roosevelt Hotel on October 30. Perhaps George and Peter will have more deals to report by then—they say Signature is liquid and lending, with a $20M sweet spot. |
Attorney Bill Fishman, ARS Abstract's John Kazazis, Madison Commercial Real Estate Services' Carlos Alvarez, and Gretes Research Services' Frances Gretes, who's following global market changes for a newsletter she puts out on behalf of an international (but confidential) architect. Some trends? Middle Eastern money into northern Africa, and Chinese investment into Latin America. Anyone else suddenly hankering for the board game Risk? |
Attorney John Blomquist, Buyer's Edge Realty's Chris Cawley, Citi Smith Barney's Patrick Giblin, and Montvale Mortgage's Bruce Hirschfeld. John tells us he just launched StandbyCounsel.com, a site that provides outsourced general counsel services to small and mid-sized firms. Bruce is headed off for some striper fishing on Raritan Bay this weekend; save a spot on the boat for us! |
Vandenberg & Feliu's Joshua Bernstein took a break from refinancing, restructuring, and workouts for the event, here chatting with Greater New York Chamber of Commerce's Pam Texada, and Hagedorn Communications' (or more familiarly, Real Estate Weeklypublisher) Al Zezula. |
