YMBA TAKES OVER BOGART’S
February 27, 2009
Afterwards, we hopped across the street to Bogart’s, where a crowd of 100 packed the Young Mortgage Bankers Association’s winter networking event. (The Ninjabread Men, unfortunately, were not playing.) We managed to grab most of the officers for a snapshot: American Land’s Marc Lawrence, JPS Capital Partners’ Evan Hakalir, AFC Realty Capital’s Adam Horowitz, Prestige Title’s Drew Melchionni, Citibank’s Peter Meyer and David Cohen, Besen Capital’s Angela Ortiz, and Eurohypo AG’s Carly Berfas. “Survival is the new success,” they tell us. |
Aharon Friedman (right, with Newmark Knight Frank’s Jeffrey Rosenblum) just started his own investment firm, Atreus Capital. He’ll be looking for multifamily and mixed-use opportunities around the New York metro. |
Churchill Credit’s Jody Jones, who moved here from the Left Coast in October, finds success in a different kind of financing—equipment. Her company does lease-to-own for businesses, from office furniture to heavy machinery (there’s a $1 buyout at the end of the term). With her are Cullen and Dykman’s John Bruzina, Meridian Capital’s Daniel Kirchner, and Arthur J. Gallagher’s John Felter. |
