An industry shut down gave ratings companies bandwidth needed to deal with image issues and regulators, Kim says. Cia notes that market panic has subsided, and she sees deal flow picking up dramatically. Harlem, which suffered vacancy and abandonment after the market crashed, has distress prospects and room for growth, Sheena adds. And fundamentals matter again, Andrea says; you don't have to kick out tenants to make money.

AREW Charitable Fund also collected bagfuls of work-appropriate clothes for Bottomless Closet, a non-profit providing business attire, interview skill training, and ongoing career support for economically-disadvantaged women. They'll also be continually collecting $1 donations for new pantyhose (donate here).
