David Durst, Last Of Three Durst Brothers, Dies At 90
David Durst, the last of the three brothers that ran the Durst Organization for decades, passed away today at age 90.
David oversaw design and construction at the Durst Organization, and was also an accomplished sculptor and photographer, the New York Times reports. He oversaw the construction of eight skyscrapers during his 30 years at the firm, and his son Jody Durst is now president of the Durst Organization.
David’s brother Royal passed in 1993, and his brother Seymour died two years later. Their father, Joseph Durst, a Polish immigrant who started as a pushcart vendor on the Lower East Side, went on to become a garment factory owner and founded the company in 1927, shortly after David’s birth.
David is survived by his second wife, Carola, two daughters, three sons and nine grandchildren. [NYT]
