Sleep Out for Homeless Youth
On Oct. 8, over 200 real estate pros on two coasts will sleep outside so homeless youth won’t have to. Mission Capital debt and equity finance group director Gregg Applefield says that the NYC and LA Sleep Out benefits Covenant House, whose mission is to serve suffering street children with absolute respect and unconditional love. The annual event will raise money and awareness for the almost 2 million young homeless on our streets today. Gregg is coordinating this first-time multi-city event. Every penny goes to help kids receive healthcare, job training and counseling, and to transition to more permanent housing. It's tough to get comfortable on a concrete sidewalk near Port Authority or Hollywood Boulevard on an October night, but it's for a good cause. Here’s the planning committee: Gregg, Blackstone’s Qahir Madhany, Angelo Gordon & Co’s Daniel Rudin, Kensington Vanguard’s Matthew Schmeelk and Atlas Real Estate Partners’ Arvind Chary.
