The Real Estate Rockers In Relief Benefit Concert Is Tonight!
The Fifth Annual Real Estate Rockers In Relief benefit concert is tonight, and if the previous concerts are any indication, it’s going to be a rockin’ good time.
Doors open at the Highline Ballroom at 6:30pm, and all the funds from ticket sales and sponsorships go to benefit the Jewish Disaster Response Corps.
Miles Bloom, a VP at Bisnow, says it's his "absolute favorite CRE event of the year."
Attendees will enjoy make use of the Highline's bar and get to watch commercial real estate professionals rocking out on stage, playing covers of the Rolling Stones, Cracker, Wheezer and more.
Carl Schwartz, co-head of Hunton & Williams’ global real estate practice, helped get the event off the ground five years ago as a way to help raise money for the JDRC, which was founded by the son of his longtime friend and client World Wide Group COO David Lowenfeld.
“The money’s going to a great cause, and it’s an opportunity for the CRE industry to gather and just have a good time,” Carl says. “You’re not listening to speeches or sitting down to a chicken dinner,” like most commercial real estate functions.
Carl plays the bass and sings, and will be playing tonight with the band Normal By Day, friends of his who’ve been playing together since 1980.
“We’re very well-practiced, but that doesn’t mean we’re any good,” he says, although Bisnow has heard otherwise.
David’s also in a band, called Midlife, where he plays the keyboard and sings. The Corcoran Group’s Joe Bonacci, Cohen Equities’ David Cohen and NGKF’s Billy Mendelson, among many others, will be playing in different bands throughout the night as well.
Carl says he plans to raise about $100k tonight, all of which goes towards helping the JDRC rebuild houses and provide relief for victims of natural disasters. Get your tickets here.
