Port Authority Blames 3 World Trade Center For Leaks In Oculus
According to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Oculus transportation hub has been damaged by construction at one of the buildings it was meant to serve.
As water poured onto the floor of the main concourse and pooled there during torrential downpours on Friday, Port Authority officials claimed that there are no problems with the roof of the $4B structure. Rather, they pegged 3 World Trade Center as the source of the water, the New York Post reports.
3 WTC, which is owned by Larry Silverstein's Silverstein Properties, is under construction and will stand 83 stories tall when finished. The development of the new World Trade Center has been marred by several safety incidents, but a spokesman for Silverstein denied the Port Authority's claims.
The leakage was reportedly so bad that sections of the Oculus hub were forced to close during the flash flood conditions on Friday.
