PODCAST: Bisnow's 'Let's Have A Drink,' Episode 2: Toby Moskovits
Bisnow has a new podcast series, Let’s Have A Drink, where we sit down with the personalities who shape New York City real estate — the most cutthroat, challenging and thrilling market in the world.
Hosted by Bisnow reporter Miriam Hall, we examine the deals, the disappointments and, of course, drinks of choice. You can subscribe on iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud or anywhere else you listen to podcasts.
In our second episode, we sit down with Toby Moskovits, the founder and CEO of Heritage Equity Partners, at the Williamsburg Hotel in Brooklyn. We talk about going against the herd in development, picking back up when it doesn’t pan out — and how women should take on the aggressive, male-dominated world of real estate development.
"It starts with seeing yourself in a certain role," she said about women in the industry. "You need to say, 'OK, what are the skills needed,' and mentally not put up all these gates that say, 'I didn't go to Harvard, I'm not connected, my family's not in the business, I don't have money.'
"I give you all the reasons why it shouldn't work," she said. "Now you need to think about how it can work."
