After Beating San Fran, Here's Who Airbnb Is Targeting Next

Just after allegations that Airbnb cooked its books to make its numbers look less controversial, the homesharing behemoth is set to launch a grassroots campaign in NYC—one modeled after its successful effort in S.F. to block restrictive legislation.

The NYC group will be one of “100 independent Home Sharing Clubs” Airbnb has put in the works since its S.F. victory, The Real Deal reports.

In 2010, lawmakers in Albany, NY, banned the rentals that make up most of Airbnb’s business—the company plans to lobby the state legislature for the NYC group’s first action.

Airbnb mobilized 7,000 people in S.F., a city with close to 20,000 hosts. NYC has around twice that, so the home rental website expects double the turnout. [TRD]
