NY’s Next Tech Mecca?
NYC Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez is proposing a 100-acre “technology community” of residential, commercial and retail development in Inwood—built, like the proposed Sunnyside Yards in Queens, over a train yard. Inwood’s not part of the mayor’s rezoning plans, but Rodriguez still says he can bring institutions like CUNY and NY Presbyterian (and even threw out names like Apple, Facebook and Google), Crain's reports. Rodriguez says the MTA, which runs the yard, could sell air rights to the city to defray the cost. Gov. Cuomo would have to approve (and he’s not a fan of de Blasio’s Sunnyside Yards idea). [Crain's]
